How Our Learning Centre Works

What exactly does your learning centre do?

Our learning centre provides daily structure, supervision, and academic support in a calm, in-person environment.

Students work on their own curriculum while receiving guidance, accountability, and help where needed. We are not a school and do not replace formal schooling.

What does a typical day at the learning centre look like?

A typical day includes:

  • Arrival and settling time

  • Independent academic work

  • Facilitator check-ins and guidance

  • Breaks and reflection time

  • Progress tracking

The focus is on consistency, responsibility, and supported independence.

Do students receive direct teaching?

Facilitators guide and support students, but this is not a traditional classroom with continuous lecturing.

Students are expected to engage with their curriculum independently, with help provided when they are stuck or need clarification.

Which curriculum do students use?

Parents select and purchase the curriculum their child follows. This may include CAPS or alternative options.

We support students in following their chosen curriculum but do not design or sell full-time curricula through the learning centre.

Is the learning centre suitable for homeschooling families?

Yes. Many families use the learning centre as part of their homeschooling structure.

Parents remain responsible for homeschooling registration and compliance where applicable.

Is this suitable for students who struggle in traditional schools?

Yes — particularly for students who:

  • Are overwhelmed in large classrooms

  • Need a calmer learning environment

  • Benefit from individual attention

  • Require daily structure without school pressure

However, students must be willing to engage with learning.

How many students are in the learning centre?

We intentionally keep numbers limited to maintain focus, calm, and individual attention.

This allows facilitators to know each student and monitor progress meaningfully.

Is attendance full-time or part-time?

Attendance options are discussed during consultation and depend on availability and student needs.

Many students attend on a daily basis to maintain routine and consistency.

Do you assess or report on students?

We do not issue formal report cards or assessments.

We track progress informally and communicate observations with parents to support learning and decision-making.

Can students prepare for GED at the learning centre?

In some cases, yes. Students preparing for alternative pathways such as GED may attend the learning centre for daily structure and support.

This is assessed individually.

Where is the learning centre located?
